East of the Wheatfield we stopped at the Fr. William Corby monument where we learned of the general absolution given by Fr. Corby to the men of
the Irish Brigade shortly before their assault to the west. The rock the statue is placed on is said to be the exact one used that very day, July 2nd, though its location is incorrect as the absolution actually took place 100 yards or so to the East near the wooded area behind the Pennsylvania State monument.
